Frequently asked questions

FAQs to Birgit

  • Do you work outside of Auckland?

Yes, I not only work on location all over Auckland, but throughout the country.

  • I have an urgent deadline, can you help?

I’m always happy to help! Please call me on 021 74 68 68 so we can talk about how to best meet your deadline.

  • Can you help us with a large scale production?

Absolutely not a problem. My international experience over the last 25+ years means I can handle everything.

  • How long will it take to receive my photos?

The average turnaround time is 2-3 working days, with 5 working days the maximum. I’m happy to arrange special delivery time frames if organised prior to the photo shoot.

  • How will I get my photos?

We can arrange delivery either via Dropbox online, or on a USB stick. For large commercial jobs we can deliver the photos on an external hard drive.

  • How much will it cost?

We quote jobs based on your requirements so we can give you the best possible deal. Some companies have arranged for their staff to receive discounted rates as preferred suppliers, so make sure to let us know who you work for. All jobs are invoiced with our bank details for bank transfer.

Styling questions

Can I book a hair and make-up stylist through your studio?

Yes, we have worked alongside many fantastic stylists who happily come to our studio. They understand what looks best under photographic lights and make you feel great.

What should I wear?

While everyone is different, we have found a few tips that work for most people:

  • Consider your target audience - corporate or a more relaxed look?

  • Don’t dress too seasonally. Most photos need to work all year round and, for example, heavy winter clothes will look wrong nine months of the year.

  • Bring a choice of two outfits.

  • White and beige coloured clothes can give a washed out look due to the white background, but this depends on your complexion.

  • Colourful clothing can look great against the white/plain background.

  • Bring a jacket.

  • Long or minimum t-shirt sleeve length tend to work best. I don’t recommend short sleeves unless it’s under a jacket.

  • Jewellery helps to break up necklines.

  • Make up is highly recommended. An evening style is best as the flash light will bleach your make-up out, giving more of a daytime make-up look in the photos.

I don’t like the way I look in photos. Can you help?

Prior to your photo shoot we can look at photos you don’t like and plan solutions like different lighting and positioning. I’ve done this many times and got great results!

Photo shoot questions

Is it better to shoot in the studio or on location?

There is no right answer as both have their pros and cons. The studio has controlled light with no wind and no weather dependency. Using plain backdrops is also popular if you want to clear cut images later. Using locations can make for more interesting photos and also provide additional context. We can talk about your brief and discuss which option is best for you. We even have package deals for combined sessions (both studio and location).

Can you find locations for me?

Yes, I’m happy to offer advice or scout locations. Depending on how complex the brief is, there may be additional fees for our time.

Can you organise props for my photo shoot?

Absolutely, I have done this for many productions and can even get a professional stylist if required. Fees apply.

Can you provide talent for my commercial productions?

Yes, I have done this for a lot of productions. Many times we can also get talent which is NOT with a model agency, depending on your brief. Fees apply.

Can I book touch ups?

If required we can Photoshop your images. However we aim to take photos with the right light, best positioning and correct colour and contrast corrections so touch ups are unnecessary or very minor. Fees apply.

Hate having your picture taken?

You’re not alone! Our team will guide you through every step of the photography experience and help you relax in front of the camera. After all, I rely on my clients looking good and being happy with their photos.
